More Deadly Statitics

Reckless driving accounts for 70 percent of all vehicle collisions in the United States.

There were 56 percent of fatal crashes from 2003 through 2007

58 percent of respondents reported that they often saw “drivers who are aggressive and reckless." In 2005.

Wreck less driving is the leading cause in death today. You see it everywhere. On the highway going to work, school, pick someone up, traveling, etc. It can be from anything, from having a heart attack to drunk driving. They invented speed limits for a reason. To keep, "You" safe and the people around you. It is not just the speed limits, it is also the way you handle the car, the way you take turns, and the way you put your foot on the pedal. It is all up to you on if you should be safe or wreck less. A car is a lethal weapon and it also can be the fastest way to die. When you get behind that wheel of the car, you're getting behind the death experience if you don't drive right. It is like a funeral on wheels just waiting to happen when you're going 50 to 100 above the speed limit. Racing was meant for professionals and on the race track. You people who drive wreck less are amateurs and always will be.

July 23rd, 2011

Early morning July 24th, 2011 the city of Saginaw received news of a car crash that happened the night before killing four young teenagers and one in critical condition. Later that morning while watching the news I found out it was I knew three of the boys in the crash, and I had even seen them before the crash at the gas station. Reckless driving caused the crash. The boys had been at a party and on their way home they were racing a car of friends, while trying to pass the friends in the left lane they didn’t see a truck coming in the same direction. The mustang and truck had a head on collusion instantly killing four passengers and leaving the driver in critical condition. Hearing the news was devastating to everyone that knew them, especially to myself since I saw them right before the accident. The driver of the mustang had his younger cousin in the car and it was his sixteenth birthday, another passenger grew up around the corner from me and another was in town for the week visiting a friend. Reckless driving caused this accident and took away four great teenagers from the world, but the accident was 100% preventable. All teenagers need to make smart choices while behind the wheel, life its self is more important then whose car is the fastest.

The Unavoidable

Every teenager looks forward to the day they receive their card of freedom and maybe even a vehicle of their own. This means parents are no longer dropping them off at the movies, or at school. This also means their friends will probably start asking for rides places. In a recent survey of student drivers "55% reported exposure to risky driving by being in a car with a driver engaging in such activities as drunk driving, drag racing, and reckless driving." (Sakar) With others in the cars teenagers are easily distracted, or maybe even influenced by the passengers, which leads to distraction and accidents. There is a law saying you are not allowed to have one or more passenger for the first six months of having their license unless they are immediate family, but how many times are teenagers actually going to follow this law. Another popular thing amongst teenagers is racing. They all want to out-do each other and win the “race”. Teenagers do not realize how precious life is while behind the wheel, one look away from the road could lead to life taking experiences. and “Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for U.S. teens, accounting for more than one in three deaths in this age group.1 In 2009, eight teens ages 16 to 19 died every day from motor vehicle injuries.” (CDC) Needless to say reckless driving is unavoidable.

I am glad to know that it is illegal to text an driving because so many people pass away from doing it, or from other people texting while driving. I had a good friend of mine back in 2009 that passed away from texting an driving. She was going down the road driving with her knee, and when she was not paying attention because she was to busy looking at her phone texting the boy that she just started dating. When she was looking at her phone she hit a puddle of water, and she lsot control of the car because of not paying attention. Her vechile flipped about three times, and she was automatically killed. The boy that she was texting will not stop beating himself up about the situaion. ):

When someone speeds what good comes out of it? Yes you can get some where faster, but there is a chance that you will get in a wreck or maybe even a ticket.a Which one would you rather have a ticket that can be paid or a life that can not be? I had another friend pass away from
her brother trying to get her to school on time, but she was all ready late to begin with. When he got up to the red light he had to slame on his breaks so he would not hit the 18 wheeler, but he ended up slaming straight into it. Danae's sit was folded over, but he lived to be okay jsut in a wheel chair. Everyday he thinks why my little sister, why could it not be just me.

My testimony

I know what it feels to lose someone to reckless driving. People never know how much someone means to them until that person is gone. When people get angry they tend to drive more reckless than normal. A lot of people drive really reckless when they are in a rush to get somewhere. No matter what the cause is everyone should be extremely careful driving.

I had a friend pass away recently because of reckless driving. My friend Trevor was trying to go meet his friend and he was speeding in his 350z when he lost control of the car. It had been raining for the past couple of days. The car went into the other lane head to head with an 18 wheeler. Trevor was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver got away before the car blew up. The police could not identify Trevor from his body, but they did register his car an found out it was him.

The little things we do not think about while driving can turn out to be the things other people will never forget. Trevor was just driving really fast trying to meet his friend to hang out, but he never thought that would be his last time to drive.
